As a ceremony maker, I aim to create with you and for you a unique occasion which expresses what this moment means in your life. At the same time, I draw upon principles rooted in many people’s experience of crossing thresholds.

I also draw upon my own experience.

At a funeral, I know how important it can be to include in the ceremony an act of love, whether a simple gesture or a special reading, that expresses something precious and intimate about the person who has died and your relationship with him or her. When my brother died, my sister and I wanted to put his favourite flowers beside him in the grave; such a simple idea brought us great comfort. This kind of small act can make a world of difference and help people to move through the heartbreak of this most painful time.

Sandra White The most meaningful celebrations I have participated in have been those where everyone was able to join in with the ‘story’ of that threshold moment, whether it was a wedding, a baby naming or marking a special anniversary. At my own house warming ceremony, I invited all my guests to create a Wishing Well with me and to include in their wish-making cherished hopes for themselves and for the world. Everyone parted that night having reaffirmed their connection to something important and valuable in their lives, as well as rejoicing in and marking this new development in mine.

When crafting your ceremony for you, I will focus on listening to what you want to express so that I can make some suggestions as to how to fulfil your wishes in your own way. Meeting people of varied histories and cultures, with different ways of marking significant thresholds, has enriched my knowledge in using symbolism and storytelling and I will weave these strands together to make a ceremony full of meaning for you and all those who attend.
